The Road to RevPi 4
World premiere of the RevPi Connect 4
The RevPi Connect 4 has been in our drawer for a while now, but the global chip crisis has so far prevented the market launch. Since we are slowly seeing light at the end of the tunnel regarding the chip shortage, we have decided to officially present the RevPi Connect 4 at the SPS trade fair in November 2022. The only downside is that the RevPi Connect 4 will not be available in lager quantities until mid-2023.
Newly Designed Heat Sink
And there it is: The first hardware-prototype of the RevPi 4. Our developers hardly let it out of their hands, but we managed to sneak a picture!
Now it’s time to put the prototype through its paces. Also, the heat sink will arrive in a few days (the reason why the Compute Module is not yet screwed on the PCB), so stay tuned for the updated look.

RevPi Development Mule
Who wants to see the first picture of the new Revolution Pi? We don’t want to spoil too much, but in addition to some familiar interfaces will also be some new ones.
RevPi 4 comes with:
- 2 x Gigabit Ethernet ports
- 2 x USB 3.0 connectors
- 1 x SMA connector for wifi/bluetooth-support
- 1 x Micro-HDMI plug
- 1 x RS-485 interface
Of course, the system will be modular and the RevPi 4 will be expandable with various IO modules and gateways.
It’s the first step towards a more flexible usage and new application areas.
CM3 vs. CM4
Even though the CM3 or CM3+ has more than enough processing power for many applications, the CM4 takes the future RevPi 4 to a new level. Not only the RAM increase up to 8 GB, but especially the new PCIe interface offers us great possibilities in hardware development like the implementation of USB 3.0.
We have published the most important differences between the two compute modules in a table on our LinkedIn channel:
Kickoff RevPi 4
The time has come! After the Raspberry Pi organization has already launched the “normal” Raspberry Pi 4 a few months ago, the new Compute Module 4 has finally been introduced. This is also the starting signal for the development of the new RevPi 4! So that the time to the release doesn’t seem so long, we want to give you the possibility to accompany the development in the following months. The timeline will now be fed peu à peu with information, technical data & milestones about the CM4 and RevPi 4 development. We will publish all info and news about the upcoming RevPi 4 on our LinkedIn page as well. So, feel free to follow us at LinkedIn. Be surprised!
