RevPi MIO – Analog & Digital I/O Expansion Module

The multi-I/O expansion module RevPi MIO has various connections. Here you can find out what they are and what you can use them for.

Digital Inputs and Outputs (GPIO Interface)
This is an interface for reading and/or outputting signals.
The assignment is identical on all four GPIO pins.

The four GPIO signals refer to the common system ground. For example you can connect the ground for the digital inputs and outputs to terminals 25 and 26 on the 28-pin connector, on which the analog inputs and outputs are also located. You will find detailed information under “Digital Inputs and Outputs”.

Analog Inputs and Outputs and Ground for the Inputs and Outputs

The RevPi MIO has:

  • 8 analog outputs
  • 8 analog inputs

Here you can connect actuators and sensors working with analog signals commonly in the industry.

Please note the pin assignment. That’s very important because the inputs and outputs can be configured differently.

The ground for all inputs and outputs is also on this connector strip.

Note: All analog and digital inputs and outputs refer to system GND.

Power Supply Connection
Do not connect the power supply until you have plugged in all the necessary connections and mounted your device on the top-hat rail.
You can operate RevPi devices in a voltage range of 10.8 V-28.8 V. Read the instructions on how to connect your RevPi MIO under “Connecting the Power Supply“.

Status LEDs
The Power LED indicates the following states:
Green: the connection to the base module is established.
Red flashing: the connection to the base module is not yet established (initialization phase).
Red: the connection to the base module is interrupted.

The IN LED lights up green as soon as an analog input is used.
If the voltage at one of the inputs is above the defined value of 10 V, the LED flashes red.

The OUT LED flashes red if a voltage higher than 10.5 V is set at one or more analog outputs. (Note: this feature is no longer supported from firmware version 1.1).

PiBridge Connections
You can use the PIBridge connections to expand your RevPi system. Connect two modules by plugging the PiBridge connector into the PiBridge connections on both modules.

Locking Clamp
Use the locking clamp to attach your modules securely to the top-hat rail.
