How to Connect Revolution Pi Modules

PiBridge is a backplane bus by which all the modules belonging to the Revolution Pi family can be connected.

The following add-ons can be connected to your RevPi Core using PiBridge:

  • Up to 10 expansion modules (e.g. our I/O modules). Of these 10 Extension modules, 2 may be RevPi Gates modules.
PLEASE NOTE
RevPi Gate modules may only be positioned at the end of a chain, therefore to the far left or to the far right. It you place them in the middle of the chain, module recognition will not function properly and the system will not start up after being turned on but go into error status. The PiCtory configuration programme will also not allow such alignments.

PiBridge connection Revolution Pi
Insert PiBridge, as shown, on the PiBridge connectors of the devices you would like to connect.

The data is transmitted by signal lines from one module via the PiBridge to the other module.

The various signal lines have the following tasks:

PinAbbreviationDescriptionFunction
Position recognitionThese signal lines control the initial module and position recognition.
RevPi Core thereby recognises on which side a module is connected.

B1SNIFF1bRight select
A2SNIFF2aLeft Side acknowledge
B2SNIFF2bRight Side acknowledge
Data Ground

Ethernet channelsThese signal lines manage RevPi Gate data traffic
A4LRX-Left receive Data negativeReceived data that is sent from the device on the left (data wire A).
B4RTX-Right transmit Data negativeTransmission data that is sent to the device on the right (data wire A).
A5LRX+Left receive Data positiveReceived data that is sent from the device on the left (data wire B).
B5RTX+Right transmit Data positiveTransmission data that is sent to the device on the right (data wire B).
A6LTX-Left transmit Data negativeTransmission data that is sent to the device on the left (data wire A).
B6RRX-Right receive Data negativeReceived data that is sent from the device on the right (data wire A).
A7LTX+Left transmit Data positiveTransmission data that is sent to the device on the left (data wire B).
B7RRX+Right receive Data positiveReceived data that is sent from the device on the right (data wire B).
