If I am using EtherCAT for motion control and the control cycle is 5ms, I would like to know how many real time threads can be running at the same time?

We cannot provide any information on this topic, as it depends very much on your own application. This should be tested by yourself.

On the subject of motion control: our devices are currently not suitable for motion applications. Because they need a very short cycle time.
