Touch Screen with RevPi

Hi all,

I'm trying to work out what software and which panel-mounted touch-screen interface would work best with the RevPi.

What is the official preferred solution? Or what have you had success using? I am using Node-RED specifically, and would like to display some live data e.g. sensor readings, if that helps so solutions that work well for e.g. CODESYS WebVisu will probably not be useful here.

I see that in previous discussions, a 'faytech monitor' is mentioned several times - is this a specific model that works well with the RevPi?

There are lots of compatible monitor. Usually no specific requirements exist and you can choose what fits best to your requirements (size, protection class, etc). Make sure that the monitor is connected via HDMI (view) and USB (touch). Also the touchscreen should have out of the box Linux support. Faytech is producing different size and models of compatible touchscreens and provide good Linux support.

Ahh understood, thank you. So any touch screen with a HDMI + USB interface and linux support should work, I see! I'll look at Faytech in particular.

I have a couple of remaining questions about the touch-screen interface, if that is alright?
(1) If I wanted to produce a touch-screen UI for the RevPi (e.g. using the Faytech monitor), do you have a recommended tool/program for this?

(2) A Faytech monitor is a good solution, but relies on the RevPi to perform the GUI processing. If I wanted to offload the touch-screen processing from the RevPi (to separate the GUI processing from the Node-RED processing), is there a recommended way/any tools to do this?

So far, I think that I would need to find an all-in-one touch-screen PC to act as the GUI, then interface this with the RevPi using an Ethernet cable. Do you have any recommendations?
