Additional ethernet port to RevPi Connect

Post by hopfalgebras »

Hi,
for my application I need an additional RJ45 ethernet port on my RevPI Connect configuration.
I need to be able to configure this port to communicate with different devices via different protocols like OPU UA/Modbus.
How can I do that?
Is it possible to have ethernet over one of the RevPI gate e.g. over the EtherCAT gateway?

Thanks!

Hi,

welcome to the Revolution Pi community forums!

I see mainly two possible solutions:

1) Add an external USB to ethernet adapter
2) Connect a vlan 802.1q compatible switch and configure separate vlans on one of the two interfaces of the RevPi Connect

Hi Nicolai,
do you have any USB-Eth adapter I can install inside the cabinet on a Din rail?

Hi,

we don't offer any usb ethernet adapters by ourself. With a quick google search I found this adapter: https://www.exsys-shop.de/shopware/de/k ... haeuse?c=4 I haven't tested it, but maybe this is something you want to test.

Hi,
do I need to to install any additional drivers for the adapter (and reconfigure the kernel)?

As I haven't tested the adapter by myself I can only guess based on the publicly available information: The website states that they use the AX88179 chipset, which is support by our 4.19 kernel. Therefore the device *should* work, but without testing I can't give any guaranty for it.
