Check the hardware and software requirements and set up your Revolution Pi system for use with CODESYS.
CODESYS Licensing #
For permanent operation of a CODESYS Runtime, you need a paid license. Without a valid license, your CODESYS project runs on the RevPi device in demo mode and stops automatically after two hours of runtime. Demo mode can be used as often as required.
The license you need depends on certain parameters of your project, e.g. the number of inputs and outputs, required fieldbus, required additional products, or project size. If the project parameters change, you can purchase suitable upgrade licenses.
For detailed guidance on licensing, see Application-Based Licenses.
To purchase licenses, see CODESYS Store for application-based licenses.
|
Caution
|
The CODESYS license can get lost.
If the license has not been backed up, it may get lost, for example, after a new image is installed or in the case of a corrupted file system. ▷ Save the license for CODESYS outside of your RevPi device so that it is still available to you. |
|
Note
|
A CODESYS license is bound to your RevPi device when it is activated. You can activate and deactivate it only on this device. |
Software #
|
Note
|
The CODESYS software is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. It must correspond to the bit version of your operating system. You can retrieve the bit version of the operating system from the terminal of the RevPi device using the command |
You need the following software components to set up a system:

Connecting CODESYS to the RevPi Device #
✓ The RevPi device is connected to the network.
Using the CODESYS Deploy Tool
As of RevPi Bookworm (10/2024), the connection is established using the CODESYS Deploy Tool.
|
Note
|
As of RevPi Bookworm (08/2025) the firewall on the RevPi must also be enabled to allow connections from the CODESYS development environment: ▷ Add the service revpi-codesys to the firewall settings in Cockpit, see Firewall. |
▷ Establish a connection to the RevPi using the CODESYS Deploy Tool.
To do this, you need to identify the IP address.
You can find the necessary login credentials on the label on the side of the RevPi device housing.
▷ Install the CODESYS Control for Linux ARM/64 software package on the RevPi device using the CODESYS Deploy Tool.
See also CODESYS Deploy Tool Tutorial.
Using Update Linux ARM64
Until RevPi Bullseye (04/2024), the connection is established using the CODESYS Control for Linux software package.
▷ Install the CODESYS Runtime CODESYS Control for Linux ARM via .
To do this, you need to identify the IP address.
You can find the necessary login credentials on the label on the side of the RevPi device housing.
