RevPi Trixie 13.0 Is Here: Updates and Support Until 2030
With RevPi Trixie, you get Long Term Support (LTS) until June 2030, numerous updated system components, and simpler initialization after flashing.
The new version of the Revolution Pi OS is based on Debian 13 (Trixie), integrates selected packages from Raspberry Pi OS Trixie, and uses Linux kernel 6.18.37.
Long Term Support Until June 2030
Switching to RevPi Trixie is worthwhile for anyone who wants to operate their devices with long-term predictability and security. KUNBUS supports RevPi Trixie until June 30, 2030. During this period, you'll receive continuous security updates and support for any issues.
Up-to-Date Software Base for Industrial Automation and IoT Applications
With RevPi Trixie, you develop and operate your automation and industrial IoT applications with the latest software.
RevPi Trixie 13.0 includes all package updates released up to July 27, 2026:
- Package sources: Debian 13, Raspberry Pi OS Trixie, and Revolution Pi OS
- Linux kernel: Version 6.18.37
RevPi Trixie 13.0 also brings numerous updates to key development, runtime, and system components: GCC 14.2.0, glibc 2.41, OpenSSL 3.5.6, Python 3.13.5, and systemd 257.13.
Ready to Go Faster After Flashing
Previously, after manually flashing an image onto your RevPi, you first had to log in with the default password to fully initialize the device.
With RevPi Trixie, first-time setup gets easier: for RevPi devices with a HAT EEPROM, this step is no longer needed. They're automatically configured on initial boot. After that, you can use the device password right away.
New Versioning Scheme: RevPi Trixie 13.0
Starting with RevPi Trixie, the major version numbering follows the underlying Debian image: Debian 13 (Trixie) becomes RevPi Trixie 13.0.
Good to know: the minor versions of RevPi Trixie – for example, RevPi Trixie 13.0 or 13.1 – don't match Debian's minor versions. Revolution Pi operating system images follow their own release cycle.
How to Install RevPi Trixie 13.0
You can install RevPi Trixie on all current and some older Revolution Pi devices.
Installation Notes
- Our compatibility table shows you which image is suitable for your RevPi device.
- You should only install the default image on devices with at least 8 GB of eMMC storage (flash memory). The Lite version is available for devices with less storage.
- The naming scheme for Ethernet interfaces has changed. This means you need to update scripts, configurations, etc., that contain interface names.
- The default password for the user 'pi' has changed.
